Beads are the first women's jewelry

Did you know that beads were the first ornaments used by humans?

Many years ago, both men and women wore beads. In primitive times, beads were considered powerful means of protection. The necklaces not only protected the ancient people from evil eyes but were also like a visiting card of the tribe.

By the order of the arrangement of the beads, it was possible to understand which tribe their owner was from. When humanity learned to process precious stones, the beads already became coral, turquoise, amber, ruby.

The Native Americans preferred emerald and sapphire beads. In Ancient Mesopotamia, golden ones were widespread, but the honor of flaunting them fell only to rich and noble families.

In some countries, beads also served as clothing. A few layers of them and the garment is ready to wear.

In ancient Rome, pearl beads were the most popular. And in the Middle Ages, cheap ceramic and glass beads appeared.

Amber and coral beads are most valued in Russia. They believe that they promote health and provide good protection against the evil eye.
In the 16th century, beads were officially accepted as jewelry for women in Europe. Two centuries later, the ornament was worn not only on holidays. Every educated lady had a separate necklace for each dress.

Before the 19th century, women forgot about beads for a while, but before the twenties of the 20th centuries, they came back into fashion. Now, diamonds are of course the most valued.
